This feature can be used for generating uniform grid like arrangement of nested parts. This feature can be used for minimizing the size of NC codes generated for a nested pattern and for improving material utilization.

A grid fit attribute can be attached to each part type. For a part to be nested with grid fit, NestLib^® first analyzes the part type and generates a suitable unit (i.e., either a single instance of the same part or a suitable pair) which can be repeated at fixed distances in horizontal and vertical directions. While fitting, NestLib^® first generates an imaginary grid for fitting the chosen unit at various locations on the sheet. This unit is then fitted at the appropriate grid point on the sheet as shown in the figure below:
